A few updates on where we are...
1) we're tipping the scales at 20+ pounds (if you'll remember, this baby was less than 6 pounds when he was born!)
My, look how I have grown!!!
2) we've started solids...we're only doing rice cereal and one vegetable a day right now (the rest is still breastfeeding), but so far, so good...there is nothing this kid will NOT put in his mouth - we've mastered green beans, peas, squash, and carrots to date...and we try to eat everything else (including things we're not supposed to as well!)
Shaan trying out his rice cereal the first week...
3) we've almost cut our first tooth...it's nearly out - you can definitely feel it when he bites on your finger and you can see the tip of it poking through his gum now
4) we're rolling over...oh, wait, NO WE'RE NOT...that's what kids our age are supposed to do, but I don't think Shaan is ever going to get there! I'll be honest, I have been a little concerned about it, but when I was in Alabama, we took Shaan to visit MY pediatrician growing up (and our former neighbors as well!) and she basically said Shaan was never going to roll over or crawl. :) She thought he would go straight to walking since the entire time she had him in her arms he stood up/tried to walk with her (this was at 4.5 months). He can basically walk with someone holding onto his hands now, but shows NO interest in rolling over/crawling. So, I'm not sure what to make of all this...it kinda scares me to think that one day he is just going to be up and mobile without any warning...but that's kinda what I did. I never crawled either...I just went straight to walking at 9 months, so he might get this from me...but, alas...we do have a ton of babyproofing to do before he gets there!!!
5) we have something to say about everything...in the form of squealing, that is...Shaan has evidently found his voice. Tonight I went downstairs to do laundry and let Manu keep him for a bit and the second I got off the elevator, I could hear him (keep in mind we live all the way at the end of the hall). This boy is LOUD!
6) we're now getting baths in the big-boy tub (sorta). We had to move him to the bathtub tonight. Previously, Shaan has been getting his nightly bath on the kitchen table in his "whale-of-a-tub" but effective tonight we decided to move his tub into the larger tub since (due to his size and strength of his kicks) the entire living room becomes a pool of water after his baths now. It actually made me kinda sad to move him to the bathroom tonight...another sign that my baby is growing up too fast now!!!
love reading about what Shaan's up to! Well, if he's jealous of Ryder rolling over, Ryder's jealous of his size! haha! Ryder's still not quite 15lbs! Andy's convinced we need to feed him more since he's ONLY in the 50%. apparently that doesn't cut it for Andy. ha. I need to start writing down all that stuff you did so I don't forget! THey are growing up way TOO fast!sad!
ReplyDeleteHi, Shaan is so big and round. What a cutie. John Michael was just as big and round as Shaan and it was super hard for him to roll over because of his big rolls! He hardly ever crawled, he just crawled for like a few weeks and then started walking. You have a beautiful baby! Have a Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteCammie! He is so adorable! Eva is just now getting to the yellow/orange foods. We just do one new food in 7days, so we have had green beans, peas, oatmeal, carrots and squash. She loves them all!!! She also loves to walk with us holding her hands. She is quite fast. However, she also loves to wiggle and slither all over the floor. I hope I get baby proofed in time too!
