Ok, bloggers...I know, I know - we fell off the radar for a bit. No excuse, really - I'd say we've been busy, but everybody is busy these days, so I'll just chalk it up to mommy being lax about the whole blogging scene recently...
As I'm writing, I'm also trying to wrap up packing as we're flying out of New York again this morning, so this will be brief, but at least it's something (thank you Ashley Deaton McMakin for letting me know that some people do actually read my blog and miss the posts, ha!)
As for the little man, he is now walking (and running), talking, and into everything. I literally feel like I cannot keep up! He started walking (FINALLY...remember, we never crawled) a few weeks after his first birthday. As for the speaking, I stopped counting when he had said over 70 words. I have no idea how many words he says now - he is a constant babbling machine! Every day he comes up with a new one - he has really started imitating our sounds - yesterday, the new word was "door." Every time someone knocks, he yells out the word door. We went to the US Open yesterday (took the LIRR to get there) and on the train, every few minutes - "door, door, door!" (I'm sure the rest of the patrons LOVED this....)
A couple of weeks ago, it was "umbrella" (I guess because it rained for several days straight up here).
Other words that we say that are really funny that he has picked up on are "coffee" (maybe not so funny, I do drink it all the time!), "kiwi", and "oval." He actually knows what the shape of an oval is too. He knows circle, heart, and star as well (although the only word of these he says is "heart." He draws a circle in the air with his finger, and will point to a star.) He also knows almost all of his body parts as well - head, nose, eyes, ear, hair, tongue, belly button, arms, hands, fingers, elbows, toes, knees, mouth, shoulders, and teeth. I credit a lot of this to these amazing videos I bought for him when he was 10 months old. They are the "Monki See, Monki Doo" products. In fact, I was so impressed with them that I sent the creator a thank you email and a video of Shaan showing some of his body parts when he was only one year old (not even walking yet) and she posted it on her blog at "www.teachingbabytoread.com." The post is called "Mom loves Monkisee" from August 23 if you are interested. If you do have a baby (up to 3 years old) I would HIGHLY recommend these products, they are great!!! You can check them out at "www.intellbaby.com."
Anyway, Shaan's favorite word of all is...wait for it...."IPAD." Yup, that's right folks - we have a spoiled, rotten 14 month old who is hooked to the IPAD...oh, technology these days - I shutter to think what it will be like when he's a teenager!!! Seriously though, we need to market this to Apple - he looks around for the IPAD, will say IPAD? to you, and if you pull it out he flaps his arms, claps, and gets this huge grin on his face - it really is so cute (if it wasn't so scary, ha!)
Ok, I tried twice to upload some recent pics of us and Blogger keeps timing out on me this morning, so no pics for now. It will probably be a few weeks, as I'm headed home for my grandmother's funeral, but when we get back to New York I'll try to upload some pics and do a little better at blogging again!
