Last week, Shaan was under the weather. He had a nasty cough, runny nose, fever for a few days, etc. So, I did my best to try and keep him indoors and resting since we are set to start Preschool for the first time next week (trust me, the last thing I want is for Shaan to start Preschool tired and cranky - I'm worried enough about the "transition" even when he's feeling stellar!)
After about two days, I had to get us out of the house. While he was still sick, he was also just plain sick of being indoors (we are typically a very "active" pair - we rarely stay inside the house). Most days we try to get out and do things - parks, pool, zoo, botanical gardens, children's museum, story times, etc. So, this being indoors thing was miserable on both of us!
So, I decided to try out the library for the first time (NOTE: why on earth have I waited until now to go to the library???? As much emphasis as I place on reading to Shaan, I am truly shocked at myself for not thinking to hit up the library before now).
Did you know they allow you to check out 75 books at one time???
Seventy-five books!!!! Let me tell you, that's PLENTY to keep us occupied for a week!!!
Anyways, we did not check out seventy-five books, but we did get a lot. And it made for a great week - I enjoyed reading the new books just as much as he did.
By far his favorite book was a parody of "Goodnight Moon" called "Goodnight Goon." It was all about monsters, and it was absolutely precious. Perfect for a 3 year old boy!
It would also be a great Halloween book to check out when we head into the fall, FYI:
Another great idea for sick kiddos (or rainy days) is "My Giant Busy Box" by Alex Toys. We purchased this for Shaan as one of his Christmas presents and we have been making use of this for months now. We really utilized it a TON this past week. It's great - hours of educational, crafty fun! And the results are soooo stinking cute:
Hope everyone is having a great end of summer! I cannot believe my little man starts "school" for the first time next week!!! Sheesh, where has the time gone?!?!
