Well, the cooler weather has arrived in New York! So, lately when we step out we've had to pull out the layers...
Our handmade "winter cap" (what the Northerners call it...I always said "toboggan"...evidently that means "sled" up here!)
Our cute "teddy bear" cover up, thanks to Mumal Bhuwa!
Cooler weather also means it's football season! I can't resist placing Shaan in Alabama gear for the games each Saturday...
Roll Tide!
Shaan and I decked in Alabama attire together...
About the time the cooler weather arrived, Shaan also decided he is through with "laying on the floor." Now when I lay him on the floor to play, he just gets mad. He wants to sit up and what he is really yearning to do is stand. He is always trying to push off my lap with his feet. And when I sit him in his bouncer, he loves to have it nestled against the couch so he can push off with both legs.
Since he is starting to get a small bald spot on the back of his head anyways (from lying on his back), and since he absolutely detests tummy time (I'm talking screaming constantly, handbanging the mat, turning all red in the face), I decided to test out a stationary entertainer. I don't think you're really supposed to put kids in it until they can sit up on their own, but Shaan is pretty close to doing that (which is amazing since we are nowhere near able to roll over - see above - HATE tummy time!) Plus, I watch him very carefully...it's quite entertaining...he loves being able to use his feet!!!
In my Alabama outfit again....
Sitting like a big boy is so much fun!!!
Whoa! Pushing off with my feet is hard work!!!
Also, for any other new moms out there, if you have any suggestions of how to make tummy time better, let me know! I've started lying flat on my back and placing him belly down on me, which seems to go a little better than putting him on a mat. And I've started playing "Up like a rocket, down like a plane" with him, where I push him up off of my belly into the air (up like a rocket) and bring him back down (down like a plane). This works ok too. But I would welcome other suggestions because I don't want him to get behind in rolling over!!!
He is so precious, Cammie! I am so glad you posted a link on facebook....I'm a blogger, too, and I always love following IRL friends. Happy Saturday, and Roll Tide!
ReplyDeleteLook forward to keeping up with you in blogland!
Ryder isn't a fan of tummy time either...he will be ok for about 3 minutes and then he starts crying...I am not very good about doing it with him..so let me know if you come up with any tricks! Love all the new pics...his hair is awesome!
ReplyDeleteCammie! Shaan is ADORABLE all bundled up!! BTW: I also called "winter caps" toboggans~ must be a southern thing. Adam corrects me all the time!! Today was the first cold day we've had since the spring. I'm LOVING wearing my sweats! Thanks for the update!
